What Is Spore Based Probiotics

Probiotic Strains And Probiotics Preparation

Spore based probiotics

For this study, bacilli with antioxidant and antimutagenic properties isolated from chickens’ feces were used. Fecal samples were collected from three cage poultry farms, a one-floor poultry farm, and three free-range poultry farms in the Rostov and Krasnodar regions of the Russian Federation. For free-range chickens, fecal samples were only taken from portions of the feces that were not in direct contact with the soil. Samples were collected in sterile containers and were transferred to the laboratory within 24 h.

Luria-Bertani medium was used to isolate intestinal bacilli. Bacilli were selected among other bacteria according to the morphology of the colonies. This was further confirmed using microscopy for the selection of spore-forming rods . Individual strains were identified by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry at the Rostov Research Institute of Microbiology and Parasitology, Rostov-on-Don. The study was performed on a Microflex LT instrument using Biotyper software . Overall, nineteen bacilli strains were selected from the litter.

After completing the above-mentioned experiments, three strains were selected for feed supplementation as potential probiotics: B. subtilis KB16, B. subtilis KB41, and B. amyloliquefaciens KB54. The fermented milk product isolate, B. subtilis KATMIRA1933 , was obtained from the Russian National Collection of Industrial Microorganisms and used as a positive control.

Leaky Gut: A Driving Force Behind Chronic Illness

Leaky gut is a condition that is estimated to affect more than 50% of the western population. Leaky gut is a process where your intestinal barrier gets leaky thereby allowing toxins, food components, chemicals, bacterial components, viral components, and more to leak through the gut lining into your bloodstream, resulting in inflammation that is chronic and significantly damaging.

A growing number of people are experiencing issues with their gut and digestive functions, and researchers suspect that sedentary lifestyles combined with a poor diet of highly-processed, calorie-dense food is to blame. Of course, the excessive use of antibiotics, pesticides and household chemicals also compounds the problem by adding stress and toxins to even a balanced microbiome.

Why is leaky gut so bad? Leaky gut is a major driver of chronic illness. Chronic leaky gut and the associated inflammation has been shown to be linked to the risk or onset of autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, Parkinsons, Alzheimers, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and even mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

Why You Need Spore Probiotics

Youtheory Spore Probiotic is uniquely designed to survive and thrive. The word âsporeâ means âseed.â And like a seed, each spore probiotic is covered by a naturally-protective shell that safeguards the probiotic until it reaches the intestinal tract. Spore technology is simply a better way to replenish the bodyâs microflora â offering multiple advantages over traditional probiotic preparations.

The word probiotic literally means âfor life.â A probiotic is defined as any live microorganism that is naturally found in the human gut and confers benefits to the body.* In recent months, these âfriendly bacteriaâ have gained huge popularity! Countless studies have confirmed their numerous health-promoting properties, helping to propel them to the upper echelon of the supplement world. When the right kind of probiotic is consumed in the right quantities, these good bacteria can have a profound impact on whole body health by shifting the ecosystem of the gastrointestinal tract.

Most of the leading probiotic products in the US utilize Lactobacillus bacteria . However, new reports on the survival and effectiveness of these microorganisms suggest that Lactobacillus may not necessarily be the best option for supporting digestive health.

Spores are emerging as new and potentially better probiotic options. Spores offer multiple advantages over Lactobacillus and confer significant health benefits that can change the course of your health.

Samples

At the end of the study, all birds were sacrificed. Blood samples were collected from the axillar vein of two randomly chosen birds per replicate into two vacuum tubes per bird containing coagulant. The collected samples were aliquoted for use in several different assays. They were used to analyze leukocyte composition via counting leukocytes in blood smears stained with Diachim-Diff-Quik staining using microscopic morphometry. After centrifugation , serum samples were examined for total protein, albumin, albumin/globulin ratio, glucose, and cholesterol levels using an automatic biochemistry analyzer A-15 .

Before sacrificing, the birds were not fed for 10 h according to the GOST 18292-2012 Slaughter poultry. Specifications2 The gut of two randomly chosen birds per replicate was ligated and removed from the carcass. The gut content of each gastrointestinal section was collected into sterilized containers and immediately kept at 4°C for further assays. Bacterial analysis was carried out within 24 h. Spleens were aseptically collected into sterilized containers and immediately kept at 80°C for further experiments.

Measurement of Growth Performance

Mean replicate feed intake , and each chicken’s body weight were measured at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, and 42 days of age. Average daily weight gain was calculated from obtained data according to the following formula:

The Science Behind Bacillus Spore

Most of us are at least peripherally aware of the benefits of probiotics. But the probiotic puzzle can be a little tricky to piece together with so much conflicting information and every brand and probiotic strain claiming to be the best. But as they say, the proof is in the pudding, and theres a specific subset of probiotics that have the scientific proof to back up their claims of being the best.

What is this subset of probiotics? A unique group of probiotics known as spore-based probiotics. And more specifically a class of spore-based probiotics that fall under the species bacillus.

In this post, were going to explore exactly what bacillus spore-based probiotics are, the science behind their remarkable health-promoting effects, and how you can reap the benefits of these powerful probiotics.

Benefits Of Spore Probiotics

Spore-Based Probiotics with Kiran Krishnan: Rational Wellness Podcast 71

Also known as soil-based organisms, spore producing bacillus bacteria species live in the top soil, and have been ingested by humans over the course of their evolution, as they harvest tubers and other veggies from the ground and eat them fresh. Spore-based probiotics provide bacteria species we rarely ingest anymore, due to washing, peeling and cooking our vegetables.

The goal in supporting the bacterial ecosystem with probiotics is to promote a balanced and diverse bacterial environment that is predominantly made up of good bacteria. Its well known that in order for probiotics to be effective, they need to make it through the harsh environment of the stomach and down to the intestinal lining. Spore-producing bacteria largely survive stomach acid so they can thrive in the intestines where they can do the most good.*

One of the benefits of probiotics is their ability to support tight junctions in the gut lining.* Without tight junctions between the enterocytes, the intestinal lining becomes permeable, allowing molecules to enter the bloodstream that should be contained in the GI tract. Intestinal permeability, often due to inflammation from various causes, is also known as leaky gut. Serum testing can determine if an individual is experiencing intestinal permeability.

A high-quality spore-based probiotic supplement can support the following:

  • Healthy gut pH*
  • Short-chain fatty acid production*
  • Growth of health-promoting commensal bacteria*

Life Cycle Of Bacteria

The bacterial life cycle does not necessarily include sporulation. Sporulation is usually triggered by adverse environmental conditions, so as to help the survival of the bacterium. Endospores exhibit no signs of life and can thus be described as cryptobiotic. Endospores retain viability indefinitely and they can germinate into vegetative cells under the appropriate conditions. Endospores have survived thousands of years until environmental stimuli trigger germination. They have been characterized as the most durable cells produced in nature.

Other Research Studies With Megasporebiotic

Liver Protection

A February, 2020 study in 35 rats investigated the effect of MegaSporeBiotic on liver injury caused by acetaminophen. Acetaminophen, with Tylenol as a common example, is a popular over-the-counter pain and fever medication known to cause liver injury and failure in high doses. Most acetaminophen is metabolized to non-reactive substances in the liver. However, some of the acetaminophen dose is oxidized by liver enzymes to a reactive metabolite that in excess amounts depletes liver glutathione storage, resulting in damaging oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. In this study, rats were divided into 7 categories:

  • Group 1 was the control
  • Group 2 received 100 mg/kg/d of silymarin, also known as milk thistle, as a known liver-protective herb
  • Group 3 received MegaSporeBiotic 1 billion CFU/d
  • Group 4 received 2g/kg acetaminophen
  • Group 5 received 2 g/kg acetaminophen and 100 mg/k/d silymarin
  • Group 6 received 2 g/kg acetaminophen and MSB 1 billion CFU/d
  • Group 7 received 2g/kg acetaminophen, 100 mg/kg/day silymarin, and MSB 1 billion CFU/d

The combination of silymarin and MSB reduced pro-inflammatory IL-1B and TNF-a to normal levels.

Preparation Of Spore Or Vegetative Cells Spores

Spores were prepared from large culture volumes using Difco sporulation medium . This was the exhaustion method for induction of sporulation, and the methodology has been reported in detail elsewhere . Spores were harvested 24 h after the estimated start of sporulation and treated with lysozyme to destroy any residual vegetative cells as described . Spores were then washed repeatedly with water, concentrated by centrifugation, and heat treated at 65°C to kill any residual vegetative cells or germinated spores. Aliquots were frozen at known concentrations at 80°C till use.

PROFLORA 4R

MAHATMA GANDHI, Indian activist.

Before todays modern technologies and various sterilization techniques and farming methods, it was only natural to see some soil on the foods we produced or picked. SBOs were abundant in our daily lives, whether it was in the fresh produce we harvested or simply from the water we drank from fresh springs or wells.

Our gut was exposed to a wide variety of these different species of spore-based probiotics and unless we are consuming our own homegrown, or at least organic raw produce, very little of these bacteria are left on the foods we are eating.

As opposed to the conventional probiotics, which recolonize the gut by reproducing and forming a stable, replicating population, you have to marvel at spore-based probiotics.Remarkably spore-based probiotics :

  • Recondition the gut by increasing microbial diversity.
  • They promote the growth of beneficial bacteria.
  • They stay in the gut between 21-28 days, where they utilize quorum sensing to understand their microbial environment and identify pathogenic and beneficial bacteria.
  • They can destroy harmful gut bacteria and produce metabolites that encourage the regrowth of helpful bacteria.
  • Their bacteria spores leave your body through your faeces about 21-28 days after entering and go back to their dormant state.

So how do these SBOs protect themselves?

When Typical Probiotics Let Me Down

In 19 years of practice in San Jose and Los Gatos I had never carried a nutritional supplement in my office until this happened

7 Weeks Premature

On 8/3/16 my twin girls, Stella and Perla, were born 7 weeks premature. Stella came home two weeks later but Perla had struggles that kept her at Stanford Hospital for 40 days. During this time, I was working and going back and forth from Saratoga to Palo Alto almost daily. My wife would tend to Perla and I would take Stella on a walk. It was a trying time for my wife and me but we were thrilled to have our family together.

At home, we had to closely monitor Perla when she ate as, at times, her heart rate would go down and her oxygen levels would fall. This eventually passed but she was left with severe constipation what would lead to pain and crying.

I put my doctors hat on and went to work to find the cure. Of course, she was getting her spine adjusted, her diet was breast milk and I was making a homemade formula. There was raw milk, raw cream, fermented cod liver oil, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, high vitamin butter oil and a host of probiotics, to name a few. The probiotics were a trial and error. I was on the phone with sales reps, heads of companies and pediatricians but, hundreds of dollars later and nothing was working.

The Basics Of Sbo Probiotics

Bacillus Coagulans -the Champion Spore-Based Probiotic

SBO probiotics are a special breed of bacteria that have evolved to survive the entire ride through your digestive tract.

Stomach acids and bile are what typically kill probiotics before they can be useful to your body.

SBO probiotics are different because they contain an endospore.

Endospores are extremely helpful in allowing your body to get the most out of your probiotics.

Endospores are a protective case that allows the bacteria to travel safely to your large intestines.

The spore allows the bacteria to remain dormant until it is needed.

When the bacteria arrives in an environment that seems hospitable, the spore will then release the bacteria.

A problem that can potentially be seen with these probiotics is that spores can proliferate.

While most of the bacteria types used as probiotics dont normally proliferate in the human GIT, the potential is there.

SBO probiotic results can differ from person to person because of their ability to lie dormant.

Some studies have found that in some people the bacteria may not be released at all while in others they can proliferate at a high rate.

Typically people with compromised immune systems, children and the elderly, should avoid this type of probiotic to avoid the potential of overproliferation.

Health Benefits Of Spore Probiotics

Ive seen many studies indicating favorable outcomes when giving people probiotics. Ive seen benefits reported for mental, cardiovascular, metabolic, and definitely nutritional health.

Ive also seen a study that found probiotics actually slow the bodys natural recovery following the administration of broad-spectrum antibiotics . In that study, probiotics slowed the microbiome from recovering after exposure to antibiotics.

In my opinion, the benefits of spore probiotics arent yet understood. There have been many favorable outcomes reported in clinical trials and studies. Common benefits reported in these studies include :

  • Reduced toxins in the blood
  • Lower Cholesterol
  • Vitamin Synthesis
  • Antioxidant Production

Many of the studies indicating favorable outcomes for probiotics have been financed by companies that sell products containing those ingredients. Theres no reason to assume the results are ever misrepresented but its important to keep in mind.
