What Is A Spore Based Probiotic

Microbiota Identification By 16s Rrna Sequencing

Spore based probiotics

Total genomic DNA was extracted from 220mg of mice fecal samples collected at the end of treatments from all experimental groups using the QIAamp DNA Stool Mini Kit following the manufacturers instructions.

Partial 16S rRNA gene sequences were amplified from extracted DNA using primer pair Probio_Uni and Probio_Rev, which target the V3 region of the 16S rRNA gene sequence . 16S rRNA gene amplification and amplicon checks were carried out as previously described . 16S rRNA gene sequencing was performed using a MiSeq at the DNA sequencing facility of GenProbio srl according to the protocol previously reported .

Following sequencing and demultiplexing, the obtained reads of each sample were filtered to remove low quality and polyclonal sequences. All quality-approved, trimmed and filtered data were exported as.fastq files. The .fastq files were processed using a script based on the QIIME software suite . Paired-end reads pairs were assembled to reconstruct the complete Probio_Uni/Probio_Rev amplicons. Quality control retained those sequences with a length between 140 and 400 bp and mean sequence quality score> 20. Sequences with homopolymers> 7 bp and mismatched primers were omitted.

The Basics Of Sbo Probiotics

SBO probiotics are a special breed of bacteria that have evolved to survive the entire ride through your digestive tract.

Stomach acids and bile are what typically kill probiotics before they can be useful to your body.

SBO probiotics are different because they contain an endospore.

Endospores are extremely helpful in allowing your body to get the most out of your probiotics.

Endospores are a protective case that allows the bacteria to travel safely to your large intestines.

The spore allows the bacteria to remain dormant until it is needed.

When the bacteria arrives in an environment that seems hospitable, the spore will then release the bacteria.

A problem that can potentially be seen with these probiotics is that spores can proliferate.

While most of the bacteria types used as probiotics dont normally proliferate in the human GIT, the potential is there.

SBO probiotic results can differ from person to person because of their ability to lie dormant.

Some studies have found that in some people the bacteria may not be released at all while in others they can proliferate at a high rate.

Typically people with compromised immune systems, children and the elderly, should avoid this type of probiotic to avoid the potential of overproliferation.

Spore Probiotics Show Healing Promise

As per its definition, a probiotic and lets take that a step further to say the right probiotic should be able to influence the microbiome and the gut lining in such a way that it protects its host from this condition of leaky gut.

In addition to outdated formulations, one of the major issues with most probiotic products on the market is that they do not survive the bodys harsh digestive environment, through which the probiotic enters the small and large intestines alive, intact and viable. When taking these outdated products, you are simply getting billions of dead bacteria moving through your system.

Specialized strains of spore-based probiotics, however, DO have the capability to survive the harsh gastric passage, naturally, thereby entering the intestines 100% alive and completely viable. Because these unique spore-based strains enter the intestines and get to the site of action alive, they have the capability to influence significant change to the rest of the microbiome. They have been shown to balance good and bad bacteria, strengthen the intestinal barrier and modulate the immune response in the digestive tract. With these unique capabilities, to date, spore probiotic bacteria are some of the only strains that have been shown to successfully heal leaky gut.

Bacillus , are hardy, spore-forming bacteria that act as vegetative bacteria when conditions are optimal for their growth but can also form dormant spores when conditions are detrimental to their viability. This spore can be equated to a plant seedit is dormant and wont grow until the right temperature, moisture and food source are present.

When Typical Probiotics Let Me Down

In 19 years of practice in San Jose and Los Gatos I had never carried a nutritional supplement in my office until this happened

7 Weeks Premature

On 8/3/16 my twin girls, Stella and Perla, were born 7 weeks premature. Stella came home two weeks later but Perla had struggles that kept her at Stanford Hospital for 40 days. During this time, I was working and going back and forth from Saratoga to Palo Alto almost daily. My wife would tend to Perla and I would take Stella on a walk. It was a trying time for my wife and me but we were thrilled to have our family together.

At home, we had to closely monitor Perla when she ate as, at times, her heart rate would go down and her oxygen levels would fall. This eventually passed but she was left with severe constipation what would lead to pain and crying.

I put my doctors hat on and went to work to find the cure. Of course, she was getting her spine adjusted, her diet was breast milk and I was making a homemade formula. There was raw milk, raw cream, fermented cod liver oil, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, high vitamin butter oil and a host of probiotics, to name a few. The probiotics were a trial and error. I was on the phone with sales reps, heads of companies and pediatricians but, hundreds of dollars later and nothing was working.

Bacterial diversity increased with treatment.

To Forget How To Dig The Earth And To Tend The Soil Is To Forget Ourselves

MAHATMA GANDHI, Indian activist.

Before todays modern technologies and various sterilization techniques and farming methods, it was only natural to see some soil on the foods we produced or picked. SBOs were abundant in our daily lives, whether it was in the fresh produce we harvested or simply from the water we drank from fresh springs or wells.

Our gut was exposed to a wide variety of these different species of spore-based probiotics and unless we are consuming our own homegrown, or at least organic raw produce, very little of these bacteria are left on the foods we are eating.

As opposed to the conventional probiotics, which recolonize the gut by reproducing and forming a stable, replicating population, you have to marvel at spore-based probiotics.Remarkably spore-based probiotics :

  • Recondition the gut by increasing microbial diversity.
  • They promote the growth of beneficial bacteria.
  • They stay in the gut between 21-28 days, where they utilize quorum sensing to understand their microbial environment and identify pathogenic and beneficial bacteria.
  • They can destroy harmful gut bacteria and produce metabolites that encourage the regrowth of helpful bacteria.
  • Their bacteria spores leave your body through your faeces about 21-28 days after entering and go back to their dormant state.

So how do these SBOs protect themselves?

The Benefits Of Probiotics

Before we cover why certain probiotics are bad, here are a few of the reasons many people say they take probiotics:

  • Optimization of digestion: The ability to enhance the digestive process is one of the most well-known benefits of probiotics. Some people with constipation find that probiotics are able to make them regular, sparing them from painful side effects including hemorrhoids, fissures, and impaction. Instead of taking harsh laxatives, many are able to find long-term relief from constipation with regular probiotic use. Probiotics may also reduce gas and have been shown to counteract the unhealthy and uncomfortable digestive side effects of antibiotics.
  • Provide relief from symptoms of yeast overgrowth: Having a yeast infection can be miserable. While you may not think of probiotics and yeast being related, probiotics may be able to control the overgrowth of yeast that leads to uncomfortable symptoms. For instance, GY-NA-TREN consists of a 2-part solution that many women turn to when they want a homeopathic vaginal treatment.
  • May lower cholesterol: While scientists are still uncovering new benefits of probiotics, one that were thrilled to see is the ability to lower cholesterol. A review of 30 clinical studies showed some evidence that probiotics are beneficial in reducing the total cholesterol, as well as reducing bad cholesterol.

What Is A Spore Based Probiotic

Spore-Based Probiotics with Kiran Krishnan: Rational Wellness Podcast 71

Bacteria, when they are in a probiotic, are delicate and need to be refrigerated to survive. A spore form of a bacteria, on the other hand, is resilient and a survivor that can last for years without being refrigerated. In fact, it can be heated to over 200 degrees without dying. The spore is a fallback position for the bacteria: a way of keeping the species going in case of a harsh winter, a drought, etc..

This made sense. The probiotics I had been giving my daughter were not making it through the harsh 1.5 to 3.5 pH of her stomach to reach her intestines where they needed to populate. Would the Spore-biotics be different?

The package came. I opened the capsules and put them in with her homemade formula. We began to see a change a week in and at a week and a half she was very consistent with beautiful poops and no crying. My darling was cured of constipation and her daddy had made a discovery.

Unt Research Shows Benefits Of Spore

Over the counter probiotic products are found in most drug and grocery stores promising to restore and promote gut health, but Brian McFarlin, a professor in the University of North Texas Departments of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation and, says consumers might want to do some research before paying for a product that may do little or nothing to improve their health.

The current efforts to use over-the-counter probiotics, typically Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, to improve gut health dont give us consistent results, McFarlin said. Most traditional probiotics are destroyed by our stomach acid and dont make it to the intestine to do any good. Plus, unless you have excessive endotoxins moving from your gut into your body or you have a compromised gut biome , probiotics offer limited to no benefit.

McFarlins research focuses on subjects with health issues that may be helped by probiotics specifically spore-based probiotics. These spore-forming or ground-based probiotic strains are more effective because the endospores that encapsulate the strains are highly resistant to stomach acid, potentially resulting in the delivery of more viable probiotics to the small intestine.

A leaky gut is the result of an unhealthy intestinal lining caused by the lack of beneficial bacteria. Gaps can develop in the lining that allow bacterial endotoxins to escape into the bloodstream resulting in dietary endotoxemia.

How Do You Know If A Probiotic Is Spore

Spore-based probiotics begin with the word “Bacillus” namely Bacillus subtilis HU58, Bacillus coagulans SC208 and Bacillus clausii SC109. However further studies and research in 2009 By Dr. Hong show that the concentration of Bacillus endospores in the human gut are found in higher concentrations than natively found in the soil.

This suggests that although bacillus endospores use the soil as a means of transport from host to host, their actual home is located within the gut itself. Any strains listed without “Bacillus” at the start of them, are non-spore and the more “fragile” bacteria, likely to perish in our stomach acid. This is because the probiotic strain itself is not encased in an outer shell making them very delicate and easily destroyed.

If You Cant Stand The Heat

First, its important to understand that probiotic bacteria need to be alive when they reach your gut. So the best bet may be to find a hardy probiotic that can survive all the thingslike manufacturing and storing the probiotic product, AND the transit to your gut.

Different strains of probiotics have different sensitivity levels. Not all strains can be made shelf-stable or survive things like boiling, baking, or freezing .

Lets look at the main types of probiotic strains and their differences. These can generally be classified as vegetative and spore-forming probiotics.
