This is actually a yogurt drink, which makes it easy to take with you when youre on the move. It contains 10 billion active probiotic cultures in every bottle, and is a source of calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin A.
The drink comes in 7 flavours, including strawberry, vanilla, and mixed berry.
The only downside is that it does have a fairly high amount of sugar, with 10 grams per bottle, with sugar listed as the third ingredient on the label.

How To Make Probiotic Yoghurt
Pour the milk into a saucepan and put the pan over a low heat. Stir gently, watching it carefully, until the temperature reaches 91C, which is just below boiling point. Then remove from the heat and leave until the temperature falls to 46C.
Pour the milk into a warm sterilised bowl. Whisk in the live yogurt and the bacteria will start to work on the fresh milk and convert it into yogurt. Cover the bowl with a clean tea towel and place it somewhere warm overnight. An airing cupboard or a shelf above a radiator is fine, or alternatively, you can pour it into a warmed, wide-mouthed Thermos flask and seal.
If the yogurt is still runny in the morning, leave it wrapped up in the warm for another couple of hours. When it is the right thickness, transfer it to a sterilised container with a lid and store in the fridge a large glass jar is ideal. Homemade yogurt is not as thick as commercially produced yogurt, so to get a thicker Greek-style set, strain it through a muslin-lined sieve over a bowl for a few hours.

Ever since my good friend Jac told me about her favourite coconut yoghurt, Ive been a little obsessed with figuring out how to make my own. Actually, thinking about it, yoghurt making has been on my radar for a lot longer than that.

And that day has come!
Over the last few months Ive been perfecting my yoghurt making skills of both regular milk based yoghurt, and the more exotic coconut yoghurt.
The thing is, its no where near as complicated as youd imagine. Im kicking myself a little for not starting sooner.
What Happens If You Use Too Much Yogurt Starter
When you use too much yogurt starter, the bacteria will be too loaded, and will produce an inconsistent yogurt. Basically what happens is the bacteria will run out of “food” before the milk has had time to properly ferment into perfectly consistent yogurt. So please, remember to use the recommended dosage of starter as listed above and check the recommendations on the packaging on your yogurt starter.

Several probiotic strains are very fragile and need to be protected from heat, oxygen, light and humidity. The probiotics might start to break down or die if they are exposed to these elements. Because of this, you may need to refrigerate your probiotics or store it in a particular place. Refrigerating certain probiotic strains ensures that theyre still viable when you go to use them and will still provide the full benefit of the probiotic. Always read the labels on any probiotic product you purchase to make sure you store it correctly and use it within the expiration date.

Place Jars In Your Yogurt Maker
Now carefully divide your milk that has been mixed with yogurt cultures into your jars and set the uncovered jars in the unit. The outside of each jar should be dry. Be careful not to spill any liquid on the unit as this can cause damage to the electronics.
Cover with the lid and switch on and let the unit run for 24 hours. The yogurt should be kept at a temperature of 110. I dont think a few degrees either way makes a big difference.
This is extremely important. Its a good idea to check the temperature of your yogurt as its fermenting. We use a digital thermometer to do this. It cant be used for the heating process as the heat can affect the display.
Sometimes your yogurt maker can overheat. If the temperature gets too high, the cultures can be damaged. We found that after 8 hours the Euro Cuisine did begin to heat the yogurt above 115. Thats not good. It seems the yogurt maker is designed to keep a constant temperature for 8 hours. After that, it will rise into the 120s.
We found that plugging the unit into a dimmer switch and dimming the power a bit regulated the temperature well over the 24 hour period. You will get the hang of how to do this fairly quickly.
Heres another important tip. When you lift the lid to check the temperature, lift it straight up and place the lid on a paper towel nearby. Be careful not to drop any droplets of water from the condensation from inside the dome lid into the yogurt. You dont want to contaminate your yogurt.

A product of fermented milk, yogurt naturally contains probiotics from the species Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus, according to the California Dairy Research Foundation. Additional live bacteria are commonly added to enhance yogurt’s probiotic content. These same species can be found in probiotic pills.
A December 2010 study published in the International Journal of Food Microbiology studied human saliva and fecal samples after subjects consumed either yogurt or probiotic pills. The researchers determined that both options provided the body with comparable amounts of microorganisms. The actual time to prep is only 5-10 minutes… and then you just let the mixture culture in a warm place for 36-48 hours – it is SO SO EEEEASY!
The yoghurt was creamy, tangy and delicious! What I found was that the brand of coconut milk you use to make the yoghurt is very important – choose a really creamy consistency and I used the Wholefoods 365 organic coconut milk which worked well. There’s no need to buy expensive yoghurt cultures – just use probiotics. I used Nature’s Bounty Probiotic 10 which contains 20 CFU and I use two capsules per can of coconut milk.

1 can coconut milk
2 capsules of probiotics
Empty the coconut milk into a mason jar + stir to get rid of clumpy bits.
Open the probiotic capsules and slowly empty the content into the coconut milk whilst stirring.
Cover the jar with a cheesecloth and secure it with an elastic band.
