How To Increase Probiotics In Breast Milk

Increase Your Intake Of Probiotics

Breast milk is a probiotic

Probiotics are live microorganisms, usually bacteria, that provide a specific health benefit when consumed.

Probiotics dont permanently colonize the intestines in most cases. However, they may benefit your health by changing the overall composition of the microbiome and supporting your metabolism .

A review of seven studies found that probiotics have little effect on the gut microbiome composition of healthy people. However, there is some evidence that probiotics may improve the gut microbiome in those with certain diseases .

One review of 63 studies found mixed evidence of the effectiveness of probiotics in altering the microbiome. But the researchers noted that the probiotics strongest effects seemed to be in restoring the microbiome to a healthy state after it had been compromised .

Nevertheless, some studies have shown that probiotics can improve the functioning of certain gut bacteria, as well as the specific types of chemicals they produce .

You can increase your intake of probiotics by consuming more probiotic-rich foods, including fermented foods like kimchi, kefir, sauerkraut, and yogurt.

Alternatively, you can consider using a probiotic supplement. However, be sure to talk with your doctor before starting supplementation, especially if you are taking other medications or have any underlying health conditions.

The Composition Of Colostrum

Colostrum has the same ingredients that your later milk will have its just that the amounts of these ingredients are different, as its tailored to your newborns needs.

For example, colostrum is sometimes referred to as a natural vaccination because its levels of antibodies and white blood cells are so high. Your first milk needs to contain these so it can protect your baby from infections and diseases after she leaves the safety of your womb.

Colostrums protective qualities are also important for your babys digestive system. Babies are born with a permeable gut lining, which colostrum coats and seals.12,13 This is particularly important if your baby is premature, as shell be more at risk from the dangerous gut condition necrotising enterocolitis .13

Its also rich in minerals and vitamins, with higher concentrations of vitamins A, E and K than mature breast milk. The percentage of protein in colostrum is higher too.1 Colostrum also acts like a laxative that helps your baby pass her first poo, meconium.14

Breast Milk As Modulator Of The Infant Gut Microbiome And Source Of Microbes

In addition to specifically promoting the growth of intestinal microbes thought to be beneficial to health, recent evidence indicates that breast milk may be a source of bacteria for the infant gut. Even non-lactating mammary gland tissue has been reported to contain both live bacteria and bacterial DNA.Reference Urbaniak, Cummins and Brackstone64 The microbial community in breast milk characterized by 16S rRNA gene pyrosequencing appears to be unique with a composition clearly distinct from that observed at other mucosal sites including the skin, gut, mouth or vagina.Reference Cabrera-Rubio, Collado and Laitinen65 The origin of the bacteria in breast milk is currently not known but there are circumstantial evidence suggesting a link between the maternal gut and mammary gland. Increased intestinal bacterial translocation has been reported during pregnancy and lactation in experimental animals.Reference Perez, Doré and Leclerc66 Maternal intestinal microbes have been detected in immune cells circulating in peripheral blood and in breast milk in both mice and humans suggesting active and selective transport.Reference Perez, Doré and Leclerc66 In a clinical trial, the probiotic bacterium Lactobacillus reuteri has been detected in breast milk after oral intake in lactating mothers.Reference Abrahamsson, Sinkiewicz, Jakobsson, Fredrikson and Björkstén67

Impact Of Lfcect5716 On Drosophila Juvenile Growth And Maturation Upon Undernutrition

Impact of LfCECT5716 on juvenile growth while consuming a low yeast diet and comparison with other bacterial strains

Under low yeast diet conditions, LfCECT5716 had a significant growth-promoting effect on drosophila larvae. GF larvae were statistically shorter than larvae mono-associated with LfCECT5716 . The specific intensity of the growth-promoting effect of LfCECT5716 was compared to two other strains, namely, LpNIZO2877 and LpWJL. Median larval size of mono-association with LpNIZO2877 and LpWJL were statistically higher compared to the GF larvae . These results confirmed the growth-promoting ability of the control strains. Compared to these two strains, the median larval size of the LfCECT5716 mono-associated larvae was significantly different and lower only when compared to the LpWJL mono-association . Indeed, the growth-promoting effects of LfCECT5716 and LpNIZO2877 were not statistically different. These results support a species- and strain-dependent effect of the different bacteria on juvenile growth in drosophila, with LpNIZO2877 and LfCECT5716 presenting an intermediate functionality on juvenile growth, while LpWJL presented a marked functionality. For all conditions, the median larval survival rate was over 90%.

Gut Bacteria And Immunity

The immune system is your bodys frontline defense against pathogens, bacteria, diseases, and more. Our T-cells and B-cells ensure were not sick all the time, or worse-combating gastrointestinal distress and chronic illness.

When you get infected, your body immediately releases an immune response and goes to fight off the attacker. Once the harmful intestinal flora, inflammation, or virus is suppressed, your body generates antibodies.

Antibodies are specifically designed to fight off the attacker if it ever comes again. This biological process is the backbone behind the theory of why vaccines have helped reduce the instances of measles, mumps, and Polio over the past several decades 1.

Lowered Risk Of Fungal Infections

Babies that are breastfed have a high risk of developing fungal infections like thrush. These infections typically develop around the babys mouth. Not many mothers realize how common these fungal infections can be. Probiotics in mothers milk help prevent these infections. They help maintain a balance between good and bad bacteria and thus prevent fungal infections from taking root.

When Are Probiotic Supplements Safe While Breastfeeding And What Are The Potential Side Effects

Generally, taking probiotics while breastfeeding is safe for all parties involved. The bacteria from probiotics arent a foreign body and is only a way of replenishing the lost healthy bacteria. Therefore, both the mother and baby can benefit from the benefits of taking a probiotic supplement.

However, different people react differently to probiotics. One of the common side effects of consuming the substance includes bloating, nausea, and constipation, which usually only lasts for a couple of weeks as your body adjusts to the increase in bacteria.

Hormonal Or Endocrine Problems

Endocrine disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome , a low or high thyroid, diabetes, hypertension or other hormonal problems may also contribute to low milk supply because making milk relies on the hormonal signals being sent to the breasts.

In many cases, treatment of your health problem will help you to boost milk production but temporary supplementation may be needed depending on the severity of milk depletion.

A visit to a breastfeeding clinic or lactation consultant can help you find an approach that will work with your specific condition.

Ways To Optimize Your Gut Bacteria For Optimal Weight Loss

The #1 Way to Increase Your Milk Supply

When it comes to losing weight, most diets focus on calorie reduction and exercise. While eating less and exercising more will usually result in weight-loss, Dr. Kellman says that if you get your microbiome healthy, you will lose weight. Its all about correcting the overgrowth of unhealthy bacteria, which is making you crave the wrong foods and triggering inflammation. This makes sense because when you change your gut bacteria, you change how your body produces and metabolizes energy.

This also explains why so many people lose weight only to gain it right back because the bad bacteria are still present in your gut. The bad bacteria remember when you were fat, and they want to continue to live, so they trigger cravings for the foods that feed them.

In addition to the steps I outline above, here are 15 more ways to set up your gut for weight loss:

  • Sweat every day. Your gut bacteria operate best when you exercise regularly. Thats because regular exercise promotes biodiversity of your gut flora. Research shows that exercise actually increases the good bacteria in your gut!
  • Get dirty. While being clean is fine, overly sterile environments dont promote biodiversity of your gut bacteria. Go ahead and get dirty. And, skip the hand sanitizer.
  • Find time to de-stress. Research shows that prolonged periods of stress canimpair your gut bacteria and make you susceptible to infection.

    Massages Wake Your Boobs Up

We already know that massaging our body increases the blood flow and rejuvenates our body. The same principle applies here. Gently massage your breasts before starting the breastfeed process. This will improve the flow of the milk.

If you are using a breast pump to express your milk, it is advised to massage each breast before starting to pump. Express milk for 10-15 minutes, then take a short break to massage that breast again and then continue for the next 15 minutes. Repeat this process for the other breast.

Eat Lots Of Vegetables Legumes Beans And Fruit

Fruits and vegetables are the best sources of nutrients for a healthy microbiome.

They are high in fiber, which your body cant digest. However, certain bacteria in your gut can digest fiber, which stimulates their growth.

Beans and legumes also contain very high amounts of fiber.

Some high fiber foods that are good for your gut bacteria include:

    • raspberries
    • bananas
    • apples

One study found that following a diet rich in fruits and vegetables prevented the growth of some disease-causing bacteria (

    Summary

Many fruits and vegetables are high in fiber. Fiber promotes the growth of beneficial gut bacteria, including specific types such as Bifidobacteria.

    Vaginal Health For Future Children

Set your future children up for a healthy gut microbiome and immune system. These precautions can happen long before your pregnancy. Consider learning which bacteria are present in your vaginal microbiome.

Much like our gut bacteria, vaginal bacteria play a role in protecting the body from pathogenic microorganisms that want to invade your body.

Unlike the GI microbiome that encourages diverse gut microbes, your vaginal microbiome depends on Lactobacilli. Yup! These strains are most commonly found in yogurt, another dairy-based product. The milk microbiota circle continues!

These lactic acid bacteria regulate the pH levels to suppress potentially harmful bacteria, like Streptococcus, Enterococcus, and Staphylococcus.

Low levels of Lactobacilli can create health complications for mother and baby. An overly diverse vaginal microbiome has been linked to preterm delivery. That would change the mode of delivery thats intended. In turn, the infants gut microbiota and immune system can become compromised.

Bifidobacterium Infantis Is A Highly Specialized Microbe That Resides In The Gut Microbiome

EASY HOW TO INCREASE YOUR BREAST MILK SUPPLY FAST ! ICE KENKEY MIX

Unlike most other bacteria in the gut microbiome, Bifidobacterium infantis is an inherited microbe, often being passed down from mother to child during child birth.

Once it takes up residence in the gut microbiome, Bifidobacterium infantis flourishes and helps to cultivate an environment where other beneficial bacteria can grow.

    • Bifidobacterium infantis has been shown to strengthen the gut barrier, and increase butyrate production in certain contexts
    • Currently, the most effective way to increase Bifidobacterium infantis levels is through the use of probiotics

Here we explore the many benefits of Bifidobacterium infantis and how it is being used as a probiotic.

    What is Bifidobacterium infantis?

Bifidobacterium infantis is a lactic-acid-producing gut bacteria that provides many benefits to newborn infants as well as adults.

What are the benefits of Bifidobacterium infantis?

    Bifidobacterium infantis2:

    • Cooperates with other gut-microbiome bacteria to harvest energy from non-digestible nutrients, ultimately leading to the creation of butyrate
    • Occupies space in the gut microbiome that potentially harmful microbes would otherwise fill

It is noteworthy that much of what is known about the benefits of Bifidobacterium infantis comes from studies that were done in infants2.

While it is likely that these benefits extend to adults as welland there is some evidence to support thisthe magnitude of these benefits may differ as we get older.

    How To Increase Breast Milk

We are going to list lot of ways to increase breast milk after delivery. The remedies mentioned below will definitely answer your question i.e. how to increase breast milk supply. some of remedies are very simple and related to your food habits. Little change in your food habit will change a lot. so lets go through to learn more.

    Sucking Difficulties Or Anatomical Issues

The problem may not even be a low milk supply, but lie with your little one getting the milk from your breasts efficiently.

If you suspect low milk supply, have your lactation consultant or pediatrician check your baby for a tongue-tie. A tongue-tie is simple: the thin membrane of tissue at the bottom of his mouth is holding the babys tongue too tightly, so that hes not able to use it properly to extract the milk.

In many cases this is fairly easy to see, and just as easy to rectify.

    The Pain Of Not Nursing

At the same time, Ive seen the pain that several of my friends have experienced when physically unable to nurse their babies and longing to. Ive held their hands through the tears of wanting to nurse their newborns, and Ive donated milk to their preemies who desperately needed the nutrients.

Motherhood is hard, and the topic of breastfeeding is especially painful for many moms.

This post is not here to debate the issue, and certainly not to judge moms for decisions either way, but to offer some practical alternatives for those who dont or cant nurse their babies.

Probiotics In Breast Milk Benefits For Baby

All of the benefits that can be seen transferring from mom to the child comes from a little-known substance known as Colostrum 2. Colostrum is a fluid that comes out with breast milk for a few days after the baby is born. This promotes the growth and well-being of the infant.

When babies are fed formula instead of probiotics in breast milk, this may change the babys whole body composition 3.

This composition change is because Colostrum has many hormones, growth factors, and antioxidants, which can increase muscle growth and ligament repair over time.

Experiments on Colostrum are often done using cows milk. This choice is because these animals have a far higher concentration of Colostrum than human breast milk does. These studies have found a ton of significant effects on mice as well as on humans who used it.

For instance, studies have shown that athletes who used Colostrum have higher lean muscle mass and better performance after a period of 8 weeks 4.

According to the World Health Organization , probiotics in breast milk are important for newborns developing into children without health issues.

In a study on the long-term effects of breastfeeding, WHO stated,

Breastfeeding was associated with a lower risk of type-2 diabetes.

      • Tempeh
